Cancer support
Whether you are awaiting treatment, currently undergoing treatment, post-op or in remission, I can look for ways to adapt Biodynamic Massage Therapy to support you. The adaptation includes a slightly more extensive assessment before a session is delivered so that we can take into account the Oncology treatment, medication and their impact on you. This aspect of my practice has been developed through clinical experience in Oncology wards in an NHS setting and the benefit of very experienced clinical guidance and supervision.
What you need at different points on your journey – while waiting for oncology treatment, while you are having treatment and post-treatment is likely to be different. This means the massage therapy that is delivered needs to be adapted to respond to your needs, to be delivered safely and to complement the oncology treatment. For safety reasons, it may be necessary to ask your consultant for advise so we are all working together hand-in-hand. For some people, a challenging time often happens when all treatment has finished and they suddenly find themselves outside of a system and set of routines- blood tests, check-ups, pharmacy, hospital appointments etc suddenly coming to a stop. It may be helpful to have Biodynamic Massage Therapy as part of your transition and as a way of easing yourself into a new routine.
The light-touch and highly attuned nature of Biodynamic Massage Therapy lends itself to supporting people sensitively in a very vulnerable time in their lives. It is an area of work I love.
